Facts You May Not Know About Aromatherapy

April 28, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 124

Every time I stroll through a herbal or scented garden, I'm entranced by the way it calms my stress and relaxes my anxious mind. It's almost as if Nature laid the plants out especially for me. Parks and gardens are as old as civilization itself. In fact, even Adam and Eve are said to have had their own garden to explore.

These days, it's not even strictly necessary to walk outdoors to receive these benefits, although I often do so myself whenever I have the opportunity for natural Aromatherapy. Fortunately for city dwellers, it's also possible to enjoy those same naturally healing aromas in pre-packaged form, as herbs and spices blended with organic oils, or in the form of potpourri.

Ancient Gardens - Eternal Moments for Utter Peace

The most famous of all gardens that bloomed in the Mesopotamian deserts were the 6th Century Hanging Gardens of Babylon, so called for the sweet-scented floral creepers that hung down from ornate trellis work. Before that, the Ancient Greeks wrote of secret, sacred groves filled with clear streams, sweet-smelling herbs and mischievous gods.

Their gardens were also the favorite haunts of philosophers like Epicurus, Plato and Aristotle, around whom students gathered in search of truth. Wealthier Romans who came later built their houses around private atriums where sweet basil flowered endlessly. It's no wonder these enigmatic people nurtured the belief that truth is beauty, beauty truth and Aromatherapy the essence of both kinds.

Free Your Mind with Heavenly-Sent Aromas

There are several different ways to ease your mind with scented oils and potpourris. The Ancients treaded lavender bunches that they strewed on floors to release their sacred powers, and you could replicate this with an atomizer spray. You could also place a scented pillow on your bed, and sleep peacefully throughout the night.

For something completely different, why not draw a full bath that's threaded through with lavender, peppermint and rose oils or bath salts. The put on your favorite mood music softly in the distance, light a gently scented candle, slip out of your robe, and sink gently into heaven for an hour or two.

Special Times for Special People

Moments like these are best shared between close friends or loving partners. Relaxing together and freeing minds is the best recipe anywhere for sustaining love. After you achieve the meeting of your souls that only Aromatherapy can bring, you'll find the rest falls so naturally into place, that you'll wonder why it took so long.
