May 27, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 189

Pregnancy is a time of great joy, but can also carry its moments of worry and stress.Hormones will play havoc and mood swings abound. There are stretch marks, bloating and sickness. But there is also joy and happiness at the anticipation of the new arrival.

Following are some recipes to help you through your precious time. Please remember that during pregnancy you should only use half the normal adult dose, particularly if you have not been using pure essential oils previously.

It is also most important to buy good quality essential oils with the botanical name on the bottle as well as the common name.Know your supplier. If you are looking at a range of essential oils and they are all the same price regardless of the oil, they are probably not pure essential oils.

Pure essential oils are therapeutic. Cheaper fragrant oils can be petroleum based and will do more harm than good. I cannot stress enough how important it is to know where your oils are coming from.

If you are really not comfortable sourcing your own oils, find yourself a qualified aromatherapist and purchase from them. They will have a trustworthy supplier.

Morning sickness

Ginger 5 drops, lemon 6 drops, grapefruit 4 drops to make a blend

8 drops of the blend can be mixed into 25ml of base cream or lotion and gently massage over the abdomen.Alternatively, put 4 drops in to a bath or on a handkerchief for inhalation.

You can become easily tired as your body tries to cope with the changes that are going on, particularly in the early stages when you might still be working.

Sweet orange 6 drops, lavender 5 drops, frankincense 4 drops

Mix into a blend. This amount will do 4 treatments.Use 4 drops of the blend in a burner or diffuser to assist with lifting fatigue but also to relax and assist with sleep.

Emotional stress

Mandarin 10 drops, spearmint 6 drops, ylang ylang 4 drops. Mix into a blend. Ylang ylang has quite a strong scent, so test as you go.You may want a little less ylang ylang and a little extra mandarin.

This blend will give you 5 treatments.Use 4 drops in a burner or diffuser to assist with relaxation but uplifting you emotionally at the same time.

It would also be well worth your while during your pregnancy, to consult with a qualified aromatherapist who can provide blends on an as needed basis, individually designed just for you.Aromatherapists will also have a trusted source where they get their essential oils from. This is a very important element.

Enjoy your pregnancy and the assistance that essential oils can bring you.

If at all unsure of anything, always consult a qualified professional.
