Let's Take a Look at Anxiety Attacks

February 26, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 194

Anxiety attacks have a tendency to occur at anytime, no matter where or what you are doing.

Anxiety is basically that feeling we get whenever we are in a situation that can be characterised as tense, like for example, revising for an exam, conducting a speech in front of a large audience, or a blind date where you have next to no idea of what to expect; even brides on ceremony day tend to feel a little anxious, this anxiety could be related to the feeling of the bride possibly being stood up.

If you have a fear for certain things which can be looked at logically, then you can say that your response to it is rational. But for those who get an overbearing feeling of dread at unexpected times without being able to rationalise why, that is typically what is referred to as an anxiety attack.

Your typical anxiety attack is significantly more intense than ones feelings of being anxious or stressed. The best way to describe it would be to say that it's much like a sudden intense feeling or fear of a possibly bad outcome, without any prior warning. And this feeling is typically followed by a number of other symptoms. This is as a result of the change in which an organ within your brain regulates your response to the anxiety attacks.

An individual will have an anxiety attack when he or she has reached a certain level of anxiety, which leads to an adrenalin rush that facilitates a number of other symptoms all within a relatively short period of time. The peak portion of the attack typically lasts no longer than 30 minutes, but the symptoms that follow after may last much longer. The after effects of anxiety attacks will not cause you any harm despite the fact that they can be rather scary. An anxiety attack is a type of anxiety disorder, much like post traumatic stress disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Some of the after effects of having an anxiety attack include difficulty in breathing, increased heartbeat, excessive trembling and sweating, nausea, palpitation, chest pains, sudden chills and much more. Depending on the person they may experience more or some of these symptoms, but it has no bearing on how bad their condition is, as this is typically the result of people naturally being different, thus the symptoms of the attack manifests itself uniquely through us.
