How Do Panic And Anxiety Attacks Affect Different Body Parts?

February 23, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 360

Causing your heart to race, your mind to run rapid and make you feel like jumping out of your own skin. Your whole body reacts to the attacks and that makes it almost impossible to focus enough to calm yourself down unless you have been taught how to do so.

Attacks can make it hard to breathe. Does your heart pound so hard in your chest that it feels like punching a hole and bursting out? If your heart also skips beats and beats too fast, these are signs of anxiety attacks.

Attacks can almost seem evil. Are you terrified of what people think about you? Are they pointing and laughing at you in the street? Do you feel claustrophobic? This is when your emotions overpower you during an attack. You may feel like you're losing control or even dying. Your emotions are battling a war inside your mind and each one is trying to win.

Your head is likely to pound like a drum while your temples throb... boom, boom, boom. You may feel dizzy, even to the point of falling over. Panic and anxiety attacks can cause you to feel extreme tension in your neck and shoulders as your whole body tightens when the anxiety attacks overwhelm you. Numbness, tingling and shooting pain in the face, head and neck are common symptoms of anxiety attacks as well.

Your mind may feel distorted. Anxiety can leave you feeling like you're not even in your own body. Imagine the sensation of watching yourself from above your body, almost like you've died but haven't yet gone to heaven. No wonder you feel terrified. Enough to scare anyone, I promise you are not alone.

Anxiety effects your concentration and the way you think because different parts of your body are reacting in ways you don't normally expect when you have an attack. Confusion and a distorted reality can easily set in for the long haul if you're not careful.

Your food may taste weird. Anxiety attacks can cause you to swallow too much air so you start belching. Your tongue and mouth can tingle and feel like they're burning all at once or at different times. Panic and anxiety attacks can cause constipation or diarrhea and may give you a powerful craving for sweet foods. Anxiety attacks can cause difficulty with your swallowing and even talking properly can be hard.

You may feel nauseous, lose your appetite and even start vomiting. The symptoms of anxiety attacks are so unpredictable your body can't work out what's normal and what's not. You may have blurry vision, see spots and lose depth perception.

Because anxiety can leave you so confused because the symptoms affect so many body parts, you may think you're a hypochondriac or are simply going crazy. It's essential you seek medical treatment so you don't have to cope with your panic and anxiety attacks on your own.

Although I would love to see everyone who suffers from anxiety find the solutions they search, the fact is that everyone is different. Reading and learning is key to overcoming anxiety and panic disorders. Follow me to and read more on how you can achieve this with knowledge rather than medication.
