Always Hope For The Best Result When Using General Anxiety Disorder Treatment

Generalized Anxiety Disorder is an anxiety disorder that is commonly characterized by excessive, uncontrollable and often irrational worry about everyday things. This excessive feeling of worrisome often interferes with day-to-day functioning. A person who is suffering from GAD typically anticipate disaster that are commonly out of proportion, they tend to be overly concerned about everyday matters such as health issues, money, death, family and friends problems, relationship problems or work problems. Individuals having GAD often exhibit a variety of physical symptoms like fatigue, fidgeting, headaches, nausea, numbness in hands and feet, muscle tension, muscle aches, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, difficulty concentrating, trembling, twitching, irritability, agitation, sweating, restlessness, insomnia, hot flashes, and rashes and inability to fully control the anxiety. These symptoms should be consistent and ongoing for at least six months to be formally diagnosed as GAD.

GAD in children can be characterized by different criteria. The child should be experiencing prominent tension or worry and a feeling of apprehension for a period of at least six months. There are at least four symptoms out of the following list of items that must be present. The first symptom is categorized as autonomic arousal symptoms there should be palpitations or pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate, sweating, trembling or shaking and dry mouth. Second, there are symptoms concerning chest and abdomen like difficulty in breathing, feeling of choking, chest pain or discomfort, nausea or abdominal distress. The third category is the symptoms concerning brain and mind like if the child is feeling dizzy, unsteady, or there is a feeling of light-headedness, feeling of things unreal, feeling of one's self is distant, fear of losing control, going crazy or passing out, fear of dying. The fourth category is the general symptoms like hot flushes or cold chills, numbness or tingling sensations. There are also symptoms of tension like muscle tension or aches and pains, restlessness and inability to relax, feeling keyed up or on the edge or mental tension, a sensation of lump in the throat or difficulty with swallowing. And the last one is the non-specific symptoms like exaggerating response to minor surprises or being startled, difficulty in concentrating, or mind going blank because of worrying, persistent irritability and difficulty to sleep due to worrying.

Proper and immediate treatment is needed with individuals who are suffering from GAD. It is best that the person should accept the condition so that proper action can be taken. There are studies that show that the best treatment for GAD is cognitive behavioral therapy it is found to be far more effective in the long run than using pharmacological treatment. Both these treatments are effective in reducing anxiety. The best treatment should always be your best option in treating any kind of disorder but no matter what kind of treatment is used with GAD the best ever treatment that money can not buy is the love and understanding of the people surrounding you. The patience and support of the all the people who cares for you will give you strength to go on with whatever health condition you might be facing.
