How Curcumin Protects Your Joints While Stabilizing Your Mood Swings

July 03, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 261

One of the defense mechanisms of the body when experiencing stress is to signal inflammatory processes as a fast move for survival. This defense is an excellent thing when you need to run or even fight a lion blocking your way. However, inflammation is not a good thing when you are feeling the accommodation of stress just by sitting down on the couch watching television or in front of your desk typing on your computer.

Latest scientific investigations have shown that the combination of two nutrients, namely, curcumin and resveratrol has the ability to deactivate stress signals that is responsible for mood swings and the destruction of joints in the body. These nutrients are vital for everyday demands that speeds the aging process while at the same time causing wear and tear.

There is no need to worry now as new gene science already started to uncover which set of genes becomes overactive as a response to prolonged stress.Scientists are now able to connect the dots for a healthier living.A classic example of this is when excessive mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) along with its byproducts causes the degeneration of joint cartilages.

A recent study showed that curcumin combined with another nutrient, resveratrol, can effectively decrease stress-related MAPK signaling which then enables chondrocytes or cartilage-building carpenter cells achieve optimal survival. This finding had been very beneficial, especially to the American population as joint deterioration is of primary concern.

Concurrently, another study demonstrated that excessive MAPK activation causes a decrease in the serotonin production in the brain. When excessive serotonin accommodates in your brain, it sets "brain pain" in motion, resulting to feelings of anxiety, depression, drug addiction and other cravings.Although curcumin isn't part of this study, it is still rational to conclude that a reduced MAPK signaling still applies to any part of your body.Curcumin was known to reduce inflammation processes in the body.

In conclusion, curcumin along with resveratrol are known to synergistically work as anti-inflammatory nutrients that are likely to help your body cope up with stress. It has always been true that all of us live a life full of stress. It is important to always apply multiple strategies to avoid a faster aging process due to stress and as a result of wear and tear.Healthy living including daily exercise, getting enough sleep and effectively managing stress are highly recommended to part of your anti-inflammatory defense system.
