Axiom or Being

April 23, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 162

"Being" is defined as the state or fact of existing. An "axiom" is a self-evident truth that requires no proof. I like these words as umbrella as to how I describe what I feel I am... what I want to be and what I need to be. Being is the present, axiom I will talk about later.

For years I have been writing test plans, technical documents and work emails. I have never blogged and if pressed, I wouldn't even be able to accurately describe what a blog even is. I digress, 'cause here I am blogging.

Before I get started, I think you should know, I never take myself too seriously, so if you're looking for an argument, it's unlikely I would engage for or against anything written here. That said, in the upcoming submissions, I will discuss and describe topics like being a son, a father, a husband, a brother and more. Again, I want to stress... I'm not an expert or some model for society or family... far from it. I have many faults... too many. So I have wisely chosen not to blog about them, they unfortunately, become evident on their own.

I thought it best, if I had a theme, and from that theme, post sub topics. This being the first entry it probably confuses you a bit, so welcome to my world of confusion and my attempt at justifying my unknowns.

Large caveat, I resign completely to the fact I cannot define myself, that I leave to you, others and God. I can however define what I want to be.

Not sure if I'll get away with this (my past English teachers will cringe at many things I write)... but "being", is what is is. In life we are defined with many titles of who we are. Conditionally, some titles we wear proudly, some we don't. All titles need constant work and tuning.

"Being", is the result of trial and error.

For the most part, the best, starting point to try is recognizing guidance and experience. My Dad always says the likelihood of a situation being unique is very low. Listening to people that have been in similar situations is a simple rule but I am surprised at the times people ignore valuable first input.

Ethics and moral spiritual guidance falls nicely in place under the WWJD, however sometimes (with the risk of eternal damnation) an eye on the big picture is needed. His (JC's) focus was clear, temptation, peer pressure, vanity never came into play. Do you think Jesus was a good businessman? Would he make some of the decisions we have to make? That's where "situational compromise" is often needed to prove willingness to relinquish control. I'll breakdown examples of this later.

Everyone wants control, to do something on your own and have success is very gratifying, the danger is... then it defines you as a person. You own it.

I hope you all will continue reading and let me clarify.

One thing I can assure you, you won't see is me describing "Being a Writer".
