How Diet Is Related to Acne

April 18, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 182

When we talk about diet, weight loss is the first thing that comes to our mind. But, did you know that diet is also related to acne breakouts? Not many people are aware of this because acne remedies have predominantly focused on treating the external symptoms. Some acne products go a step further to target the oil glands that secrete excessive oil, which is known to be the root cause of acne. Though it is hard to point at a definite reason for acne, treatment methods have evolved over time, based on various principles. That said, diet can also be a cause, and you can find a permanent remedy by dealing with your diet. But, is it true? If so what sort of diet can help me? Let's go on to discuss this in detail.

Dermatologists may not agree or suggest that dietary regulations can treat acne. But, there have been studies suggesting that diet can alleviate and even prevent acne breakouts. Your skin actually reflects what you are on the inside, in terms of the kind of food you consume. An unhealthy diet containing processed and deep-fried foods is in no way good for the skin. A well-balanced diet is usually a low-fat diet that is rich in protein and fiber. It is not only a remedy for weight loss but also for beautiful clear skin.

Green leafy vegetables have always been recommended for overall health, as they improve blood circulation and contain the essential minerals and vitamins that promote healthy skin. Antioxidant-rich foods like berries prevent inflammation, which is also a main cause of acne. Fish contains omega 3 fatty acids that fight inflammation and even discourage wrinkles on the skin. Yoghurt is a rich source of probiotics that promote good bacteria and eliminate unhealthy bacteria, which contributes to acne breakouts. Fruits aid in digestion and let you stay hydrated, which in turn keeps your skin fresh. Vitamin A and E supplements and zinc supplements also improve skin health. Clearade acne treatment is an excellent example to show how acne can be eliminated by administering the right doses of acne vitamins.

Are there any foods that I must avoid? Yes! Certain dairy products and sugary foods are known to aggravate acne. The correlation between diet and acne has much to do with hormones. Milk and some meat products, for instance, contain hormones injected to the cattle, and it may instigate your body to secrete acne causing hormones. Sugary foods or refined carbohydrates raise your body's glycemic load, which in turn secretes more insulin and other hormones that encourage oil production in the skin.

Perhaps, it is clear that only a holistic approach will help you deal with all the factors that contribute to acne. And, you can enjoy overall health as well, as your body will be free of toxins and well hydrated with the assortment of healthful foods you consume. Hygiene is not to be ignored. Make sure that you wash your face with a mild oil cleanser.

So, if you can make up your mind to set your diet right, chances are that you can get beautiful acne-free skin without the need for expensive and exhausting treatment cycles. It may take a long time, but the results are definitely rewarding.
