Qualities of Super Achievers - Do You Have What It Takes?

February 24, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 118

Think of someone you know or know of that is very successful. What are some of the personality traits you have noticed?

This seemingly simple question has the power to help you unlock the mystery of success and improve your life in every way. When you clearly recognize the habits and behaviors of high achievers, it becomes much easier for you to adopt them into your own routines so that you too can make your dreams a reality.

Take responsibility for yourself

It may feel good to shift responsibility and blame someone else for your challenges, but to do so is to play the victim. You lose your power to change. Of course, you never want to beat yourself up over your failures. Simply take the opportunity to learn from them and open yourself up to brighter opportunities down the road.

You Need to Know Exactly what You Want

Imagine going into a fast food restaurant and telling the attendant "I'm hungry. Can I have some food?" That is certainly no way to get what you want. A far better instruction is specific, easy to understand, measurable and has a time limit. If any of these attributes are missing, you're more like a cat chasing its tail than a person on a mission.

Learn to control your emotions

It's impossible to reach your full potential if you constantly feel tired, depressed or angry. When you get in a funk, it's often because you're reliving painful memories that no longer serve you. Instead, use your memories and your imagination to keep your spirits up. If all else fails, buy a funny comic book and laugh out loud.

Refuse to accept failure as permanent

Under achievers tend to see failure as permanent. They give up far too soon. If you feel like this, you need a change of perspective. Think of Thomas Edison who tried 10,000 times to invent the light bulb. He never saw himself as a failure. He told himself he successfully found 9999 ways a light bulb wouldn't work.

Dig into the past of someone who has achieved extraordinary success and you'll likely find a lot of failures as well. You might argue that successful people are the worst failures of all. It's just that they refused to give up. Remember that next time you feel down.

Then you can boldly pick yourself up, dust yourself off and keep moving and trying until you reach your dreams.
